Merrillville, IN — Albanese Confectionary has partnered with Hudsonville Ice Cream on a remix on the classic dirt cake dessert, Dirt Cake ice cream from Hudsonville Ice Cream is a vanilla and chocolate pudding-flavored ice cream with cream-filled chocolate cookies and Albanese Confectionary’s World’s Best Gummi Chiller Worms. According to the company, the gummies have been specially developed to stay chewy even after they are frozen, which opens the door for similar applications across other categories.
The company says the gummies were developed using proprietary chiller technology that preserves the soft texture and flavor of the gummies, even in extreme cold environments.
“We are always focused on making the best food for people to enjoy and that starts with anticipating what consumers will want long before they ask for it,” says Bethany Albanese, co-president of Albanese Confectionery. “We pioneered our chiller technology back in 2010 to create a gummi that holds its flavor and texture in ice cream, setting the stage for experiences like this. Partnering with another family-owned company that shares our passion for quality and creativity allows us to bring that innovation to life.”
“Part of innovation is partnering with companies who are pushing boundaries in their own categories,” says Joel Ancrile, brand lead for Hudsonville Ice Cream. “Albanese developed something truly unique – a gummi candy designed specifically for frozen applications, which allowed us to create a product that feels genuinely new.”
“From a gummi candy industry perspective, this is about much more than a single product launch,” Albanese adds. “It demonstrates how gummi candy can evolve beyond standalone confections into ingredients that elevate other food categories. We see tremendous opportunity ahead.”
The ice cream will be available at Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Hy-Vee, Hannaford, Family Fare, D&W, Food City, Schnucks, Lowe’s Foods and other independent grocers.
